When using day commands such as /muteday or /bootday, a reason needs to be entered in before the command will work. In order to create a uniform approach to use of day commands, here are sample reasons for issuing a day command. Abuse of the Member Plus Help Room If a day command is applied in either help room, and the initial inquiry was specific to a particular lobby, it is encouraged that the day command is also issued from the lobby in question by the user Impersonation of a Member Plus or Voobly representative Chat invasion–hack Abuse of a user Note that messages on Voobly messenger cannot be used in consideration of alleged abuse Profanity flood All other floods Bad profiles Advertisements Bad nickname — only in cases where it is...
As with the /boot60 command, bootday requires that you enter in a reason for a daylong boot for a particular user. e.g. /bootday Bill abusive Issuing that command will exclude user Bill from Voobly for a period of one day. The reason why he was booted is because he was abusive-as you recall, abuse on Voobly is grounds for removal from the site. Specific incidents of using a /bootday command vary on a case-by-case basis, though a general rule of thumb is to save this command for the most extreme circumstances of violation of Voobly’s Code of Conduct or Terms of Service. For more information on day command reasons, refer to that section of the orientation materials. Remember that your first tactic is to calm the player with your Voice...
The other disciplinary command Level 4 Member Pluses posses is the /muteday command. The /muteday command works much like the other mute and boot commands in that you need to enter a username after typing the command, but you will also need to provide a reason. e.g. /muteday Bill repeated flooding By typing that in, you will have muted a user named Bill for a day because of repeated flooding. This will still allow Bill to play games on Voobly, and he will still be allowed to use Voobly messenger, however he will not be able to say anything in any lobby on Voobly for one day. As for entering in the command line the reason why Bill was muted for a day, this is purely to ensure that people who are muted for a day deserved to be and to...
From time to time there will be situations that require more than use of VOICE. While these should be few and far between, as VOICE is the most effective privilege on Voobly, there are some “Force” tools available to make Voobly a better place. These privileges are commonly referred to mute and boot. A common question that the Voobly Community team fields is, “Which is better to use: A mute or a boot?” To be perfectly frank, one is not better than the other, however, boots should not be used unless all other privileges short of a boot have been tried and exhausted. The same can be said for mutes in that a mute should not be used unless VOICE is tried and exhausted. The reasoning behind this is to ensure consistency with one of the...
The gamekick command is a tournament tool only. It can be quite useful when dealing with users who are troublesome in game during a tournament. Sometimes situations warrant that a user should be kicked from a particular game if they are violating Voobly’s Code of Conduct or the Terms of Service. If your Voice, repeated warnings, and all other privileges are insufficient in handling a potential troublemaker, then you should use gamekick. As expected, the format of this command is the same as all other commands. Just type the command followed by the username. e.g. /gamekick Bill 1 reason That command will kick a user named Bill from a particular game room (here game 1) and close the game, however Bill will still be logged into Voobly...
As the name implies, this will allow you to enter a game table or force someone to enter a table in a particular game lobby. e.g. /forcegame Bill 15 technical assistance By typing that in, you will force a user named Bill into game 15. This is especially useful for those Member Pluses affiliated with the technical support committee and community committee. By having this privilege available, you can provide assistance to multiple Voobly players all at once, should you choose to do so. This does not mean, however, that you can hold multiple rooms in a lobby for your friends or using the premium reserved game tables. As that action can prevent other users from playing a game, that is considered to be an abuse of this particular...
As the name implies, this will allow you to become host in a particular game room. e.g. /switchost Bill 1 reason By typing that in, you will force a user named Bill, who is currently not the host, to become host in a game room number 1. This is especially useful for those Member Pluses affiliated with the technical support committee and community committee. By having this privilege available, you can provide assistance to multiple Voobly players all at once, should you choose to do so. This does not mean, however, that you can take over game rooms in a lobby without the actual host’s permission. As that action can prevent other users from playing a game, that is considered to be an abuse of this particular privilege. Any abuse of...
This command will allow you to find the IP address of any user who is in the the same room as you. Keep in mind though, this privilege will only function when you are in the Help Rooms. The format of this command is as follows: /showip Bill That will allow you to find the IP address of a user called Bill and copy it to the clipboard. Again, any abuse of this privilege or any others associated with the Member Plus program, as defined by Voobly’s Code of conduct, is grounds for the revocation of your Member Plus status.
Whenever a user is muted or booted, they will appear on what is known as the tool usage list. To see the tool usage list, all you have to do is type the following in any lobby: /list That will bring up a list of all issued commands in that room, and it will also say who used it.
This particular privilege prevents you from becoming silenced in a room that has been silenced for moderation purposes. When a room is silenced, like it is at the start of tournaments for example, you will be exempt from being silenced. You will then be able to assist the host by informing users of the particular guidelines for that tournament.
This is not so much a command as it is a privilege. As a Level 1 and Level 2 Member Plus, you may have noticed that you were unable to enter rooms that were listed as full (with the exception of Tournament rooms). Well, as a Level Four Member Plus, you will have the ability to enter a room that is already filled to capacity. Entering full rooms is a useful privilege for Member Pluses in that you can assist players who request help, but are in a room that has reached its capacity. As a Level Four Member Plus, if you so choose, you will be able to provide players in full rooms the help or assistance they need!
Moderators only exist in the Help Room. The role of the moderator is to ensure that user questions and concerns are addressed in an orderly and timely fashion. As a Level Four Member Plus, you will be able to assume the role of a moderator in either of these rooms. There will be dedicated moderators in these rooms at all times, so while your assistance in the moderator role would be appreciated, it is by no means required of you. As a moderator, you will be able to move users around from one position to another, thus allowing them to ask a question to the room. You will be notified when a user wishes to ask a question, and that is the moderator’s cue to move the user to the asking or waiting position. To move a user from one position...
Your Voice is the most important privilege available. Your Voice can help you mediate situations, help users, and make new friends! Voice is manifested by what you type on the screen while on Voobly. As people cannot hear the intonations of your actual voice, what you type online is very important, for that is what users will see. For example, short, curt, one word replies are often perceived as being rude, online. Likewise, typing in all CAPITAL LETTERS is considered rude, as that is the online equivalent to shouting. When interacting with users online, it is best to avoid behaviors that are considered rude – remember that you “Catch more flies with honey”. Your Voice is how you present yourself to other players. Are you the...
Much like all of the other commands, you have to type in the command name, followed by the user name. Use of /boot60, however, also requires that you enter in a reason for booting a user from Voobly for a day. e.g. /boot60 Bill abusive This will effectively remove a user named Bill from Voobly for a period of one hour. The reason why he was booted is because he was abusive-as you recall, abuse on Voobly is grounds for removal from the site. Be sure to remember to put in a reason for booting a user for an hour. This is purely to ensure that people who are booted for an hour deserved to be and that this privilege is not abused. As you recall, any abuse of Member Plus privileges will result in the revocation of your Member Plus status...
Sometimes a simple boot is not all that effective. Users, even after being booted, may come back into a room and continue to violate Voobly’s Code of Conduct or Terms of Service. In these more extreme situations, a boot5, or a boot from Voobly for five minutes, may be a more appropriate disciplinary measure. As always, prior to using the boot5 command, it is strongly recommended that you first try to use the other privileges you have available. Your Voice, by far, is the most powerful privilege you have and it will help curb a great deal of anger and frustration from users who might believe they were unjustly booted from Voobly. To utilize the boot5 command, keep the same format as the simple boot command. Type in the command...
The boot command can be quite useful when dealing with users who are troublesome. Sometimes situations warrant that a user should be kicked from a particular room if they are violating Voobly’s Code of Conduct or the Terms of Service. If your Voice, repeated warnings, and all other Level Two and Level Three privileges are insufficient in handling a potential troublemaker, then you should use boot. As expected, the format of this command is the same as all other commands. Just type the command followed by the username. e.g. /kick Bill game description abuse That command will boot a user named Bill from a particular room, however Bill will still be logged into Voobly. While this privilege is not always effective on players who are...
As a Level 3 Member Plus, one of the enforcement privileges available is the /mute60 command. This command allows you to mute a particular user, Voobly-wide, for a period up to an hour. To use this command you would use it as any other force privilege. e.g. /mute60 Bill Issuing that command would prevent a user named Bill from talking in any of the lobbies of Voobly. Users who are muted could still use Voobly messenger, and muted users can still play games on Voobly. The mute60 privilege is to be used only when all other attempts at using your Voice, or other mute commands have failed. The mute60 privilege is used for violations of Voobly’s Code of Conduct or Terms of Service. Use of the mute60 privilege when no violation of Voobly’s...

Booting a user can be quite useful, however, it can also be too severe if situations change and the user realizes the cause for the boot in the first place. As a result, a privilege to “unboot” a person is also provided for your use. To unboot a user, use the same command format as you would for other commands. e.g. /unboot Bill This will now unboot the user named Bill, and he will be able to access Voobly again. Keep in mind, you should only unboot those users that you have booted firsthand. How would you like it if you booted a troublemaker only to find out that this user sweet-talked another Member Plus into unbooting them? Unbooting users not booted by you is considered to be an abuse of your Member Plus status and you will be...

Muting a user can be quite useful, however, often times realize the error of their ways prior to the mute releasing itself. As a result, a privilege to “unmute” a person is also provided for your use. As expected, this privilege works much like mute and mute5 in terms of command format. Type the command followed by a specific user name: e.g. /unmute Bill When such a command is issued, the user named Bill will be instantly unmuted and will be allowed to chat in Voobly lobbies again. Keep in mind, it is best to ONLY unmute those users that you have muted firsthand. How would you like it if you muted a troublemaker only to find out that this user sweet-talked another Member Plus into unmuting them? Unmuting users not muted by you is...
From time to time, you will encounter a user who is persistent in their violations of Voobly’s Code of Conduct or Terms of Service. The user may have been muted repeatedly in one room and may have since realized that he/she can then talk in other rooms. When this occurs, a Voobly-wide mute for five minutes may be necessary. The mute5 command works just as the mute command, except the mute5 command mutes the user in ALL Voobly rooms. The format of the mute5 privilege is the same as the mute privilege. Type the command followed by a specific user name: e.g. /mute5 Bill flooding By issuing that command, the user named Bill will be prevented from chatting in the main lobbies throughout Voobly. Bill will still be able to play games and...
The history command will load the chat history from the chat buffer after you entered the room. This will not change what you see in the chat room, but if there were multiple lines of profanity for example, you will now be able to read any of this text prior to the issuing of the history command. To use this command, all you need to do is type it in the chat lobby you would like to read. e.g. /history This will load the chat history from the chat buffer present before you entered the room.
As a Level 2 Member Plus you will have the ability to set and remove /welcome in tournament lobbies. Type the command followed by the desired welcome message: e.g. /welcome Welcome to the […] When such a command is issued, all users entering the tournament lobby will see the set welcome message. The welcome command was given to hosts, so they could announce tournament rules and brackets they are currently hosting, not to announce a tournament that may be held in a couple of days or even a day away. Sometimes a host will post a cancel for the welcome message, if they didn’t have time to have the tournament cancelled, but they need to make sure, they get this removed asap, either by themselves or arrange for another host to do it for...
As a Level 2 Member Plus you will have the ability to prevent users from streaming in the main lobbies of a specific room, while still leaving them the ability to chat and play, without interrupting their streaming on Twitch. The streamdisable privilege works when you type in the command followed by a specific user name. e.g. /streamdisable Bill streaming non-Voobly games Once a Member Plus enters this command in the lobby, the user named Bill will have the streaming icon removed. Once the user is streamdisabled, you cannot change it, until the player starts streaming again. This is especially useful when a particular player is streaming something inappropriate and you want to immediately stop that action. Once the user is...
This command is identical to the table command with the exception that this command changes the information “on” the table instead of the table name. The functionality is similar to the table command as well, in that you will type the command, target, and desired text. e.g. /gamedesc 5 my game Once that command is issued, the information listed for game 5 will now read “my game.” As you recall, any abuse of this privilege or any others associated with the Member Plus program, as defined by the Code of Conduct, can result in the revocation of your Member Plus status.
The gameinfo command allows you to change the title text of a game so that you can change inappropriate and offensive table names. Once the name is changed, you cannot change it again until the table is emptied. In using this command, the format is quite similar to that of the message command. Type the command, then the target, and the desired message. e.g. /gameinfo 5 hello This will change the name of Game 5 to “hello.” Keep in mind, you don’t always have to use words or letters for the name of a table. You could just as easily change the name of the room to a keyboard symbol or a number. As you recall, any abuse of this privilege or any others associated with the Member Plus program, as defined by the Code of Conduct for Voobly...
The warn command sends a canned warning message to the user advising them that they are violating Voobly’s Code of Conduct. Like the message command, it requires the user to click the “OK” button on the warning prior to performing other actions in the lobby. As with the message command, to issue a user a warning message you will need to type in the command followed by the user name. e.g. /warn Bill Please stop flooding. This command will send the canned warning message to the user named Bill and he will need to click “OK” before continuing on his way. If this privilege is abused, according to what is outlined in the Code of Conduct, Member Plus privileges may be revoked.
This command sends a pop-up message to a user that only they can see. The user must also clear the message before they can do anything else in the lobby. Since you can create and personalize the message that appears in the grey pop-up box, this is an effective extension of your Voice as a Member Plus. Furthermore, it’s a great command to use considering it looks “official” and regular users do not have access to this privilege. To issue a message to a user, just type in the command followed by the username, and then the specific message you wish to send to that user. e.g. /msgbox Bill This is a Test Once that command is issued, a grey pop-up box will appear on Bill’s screen saying “This is a Test.” Bill will then have to click the OK...
As a Member Plus you will have privileges available to you to help you make Voobly the best gaming site possible. With these privileges however, there comes an added level of responsibility. If it is determined that any privileges were abused, as described by Voobly’s Code of Conduct, the membership in the Member Plus program will be revoked. Furthermore, Member Pluses are subject to the same Code of Conduct and Terms of Use, as with all Voobly Community Members. If a Member Plus violates either the Code of Conduct or Terms of Use, they will be dealt with as any other Voobly players, and their status as a Member Plus can be revoked. The only privilege you will have as a Level 1 Member Plus is your Voice. You will also have a “+” by...
With more than fifty Member Pluses, communication can often be a challenge. To help facilitate effective communication with all Member Pluses, there are a variety of resources for you to utilize. Member Plus Headquarters, also known as MPHQ, is the official source of current information concerning the Member Plus program for Voobly. General program information, frequently asked questions and answers, in addition to happenings within the program can all be found at MPHQ. In addition to the web-based MPHQ, there are committee-specific meetings for Member Pluses. If you’re curious about life on Voobly, come into the kitchen and look.
The Member Plus program is divided into 4 Levels or privilege levels. These levels are described below: Level 1 – When you first enroll in the Member Plus program, you will receive a “+” before your name. However, you will not receive any privileges beyond those of every other Voobly user. During this period, you will get a chance to meet the other Member Pluses in your Committee, make some friends, and become familiar with the way other Member Pluses handle user situations. Level 2 – Approximately 60 days after you initially enrolled in the program, you will be automatically moved to Level 2. At Level 2, you will have privileges available to you that may choose to use in order to help you assist other players. These privileges and...
There is no specified time commitment for being a Member Plus. Spend as much or as little time as you like. Your level of involvement depends entirely on you! We want this to be fun and enjoyable for you! Please note, as the Member Plus program is a means to recognize you, the active community members, tokens drop off periodically due to inactivity. To ensure that this does not happen, it is recommended that you access your Member Plus account often, approximately every month. Should your token drop off, it can be reinstated, but it is not guaranteed if this is a frequent occurrence.
Participation in the Member Plus program is open to all Voobly members of every skill level – gaming newbies and aficionados alike. But, in order to enroll into the Member Plus program, you need to be a “member in good standing.” Please note, the definition of “a member in good standing,” for the purposes of the Member Plus enrollment is a little different than that of what is listed on the My Voobly page. Specifically, to be a Member Plus, the following must be true: Your desired Member Plus name does not violate the terms listed in the Code of Conduct, nor does it indicate an affiliation with a team/clan/group. You have not been banned from Voobly in the last several months. You have been a member of Voobly for several months. You...
When you fill out the enrollment form, you will indicate one committee you are interested in affiliating with, based on your personal areas of interest on Voobly. The Member Plus program is sub-divided into committees to allow users to affiliate with areas where they would like to help. Each committee has a lead, and they are responsible for answering any questions that you may have about the Member Plus program. Below are the names of these groups and a brief description of each of them. Game Specific Committee — This group helps their fellow players with actual game play. If you are a game wizard, or you just like helping folks with game play and strategy, this group is for you! The Game Specific committee lead is miko@voobly...
The core values for the Member Plus program are as follows: Respect for all individuals Consideration for all individuals Plays well with others Respect for all individuals Regardless of who you are, where you are from, and what you know, the community on Voobly is quite varied. It is understandable that misunderstandings or miscommunications may occur from time to time. Regardless of your own thoughts, feelings and involvement on a particular matter, respect for all individuals must be upheld at all times. You do not have to agree with everyone, but at the very least, all individuals in the Voobly community must be treated with dignity and respect. Consideration of others “The player always comes first,” is one way to look at this...
